Mallorca cycling events: the whole calendar, and the rides you can actually enter

By The MallorcaVelo Team · Published Aug 17, 2026

If you want to ride an event on Mallorca, the decision is not which one. It is when to be at your keyboard. The island stages 114 federated cycling events a year and 9 of them can be entered by a rider without a Spanish competition licence. 5 of those 9 were called off. And the two events every search returns — the 312 and the Ironman — are the two you cannot simply decide to do: entries for the 312 open on 6 October 2026 and went in seconds last time, and the Zafiro IRONMAN 70.3 Alcúdia-Mallorca on 8 May 2027 is already sold out, nine months out.

So this page is a calendar and a warning in the same table. And because a calendar is a thing that runs out, it opens with the part of it you can still do something about: 1 of this season's licence-free rides is still ahead of you, and 94 of the 114 federated events are already behind.

One ride, and it is the last of the season here.

  • Marcha Vuelta a Alaro Feminas, 26 September 2026 — a club march out of Alaró, a village at the foot of its own mountain. A normal entry fee on a normal weekend, and the only women’s march on this calendar.

If that date does workn’t, the next licence-free start on this island is a 2027 question, and the answer is almost certainly March. The rest of the archipelago has 3 more before the year is out, all of them on Menorca or Ibiza.

What the spring held, and what next spring will look like

The one above is the autumn. The spring is the season a visiting rider actually books, and it has already run: take the licence-free events, keep the ones that took place, and keep the ones inside the months a visiting cyclist is here — February to May. That is the whole spring calendar of this island, and it was 3 rides long. The federation publishes next year’s dates in the winter, and this is the shape they will take.

One is the federation’s own march on the Day of the Balearic Islands, one is a coastal club’s march out of Son Servera, and the third is the 312. If you are here in March you can ride the first two on a normal entry fee and a normal weekend. If you want the third, read its date twice — it is the one event on this list you cannot simply decide to do.

Source Federació de Ciclisme de les Illes Balears · checked 18 September 2026Counted from the calendar's own rows, not from its summary of itself. "Ran" and "still to come" are split at 20 September 2026: a month still ahead has nothing in it that ran.

Two things fall out of that column of numbers, and both are useful to a rider rather than a statistician.

The island’s racing season and the island’s cycling season are not the same season. January is the busiest month on the whole calendar with 13 events, and it is also the month the hotels fill with training camps. Put January and February together and you get 26 events — not one of which a visitor could enter. The racing that happens while you are here is racing you watch, or meet coming the other way.

And the four months a visiting rider is actually here — February to May — hold 40 of the 114, of which 5 were licence-free and 3 took place. That is the number the table above exists to produce.

Most of the calendar is not on your road. 42 of 114 events use the public road network at all; the other 72 are on the velodrome at Sineu, on closed town-centre circuits, or off-road. So the odds of your Tuesday ride running into a peloton are much lower than a 114-event calendar suggests — and the ones that are on the road are the ones worth checking before you plan a route.

The 312’s morning, against the light and the wind

The organiser sets the gun at 06:30 and the 312’s finish cut-off at 20:40. Neither figure is about daylight, so here is what they mean in daylight terms on 24 April 2027: first usable light at 06:31, sunrise at 07:00. The field rolls out 1 minute after civil dawn and 30 minutes before the sun is up — on interurban road, in the dark, where a lamp and a reflective garment are what the traffic statute asks for rather than what the packing lists mention. The cut-off falls 6 minutes after sunset at the other end.

Computed for a sea horizon in the 2027 reference year and read by calendar date; terrain is not modelled, so a valley under the Serra loses the sun earlier than this. checked 6 August 2026.

And the wind, which on this island is a clock rather than a season: the sea breeze takes over between 11:00 and 13:00 in every month of the year, and in April at 12:00. A 312 field that starts at 06:30 has roughly four and a half hours of the calm half of the day, and it spends them in the mountains. What the wind does, hour by hour →

The federation numbers the 312’s editions too

The Balearic cycling federation registers the race on its own calendar as «XVI MALLORCA 312 OK MOBILITY» — Ciclismo para todos Ciclodep, class M.C.UCI.+H, hosted at Playa de Muro by 312 Bike & Tours Seccio Esportiva. Its numeral for 2026 is XVI, which is the reading two of the organiser’s own pages support and an operator selling the 2027 race as "the 18th edition" does not.

Source Federació de Ciclisme de les Illes Balears · checked 18 September 2026The federation numbers editions because it sanctions them, not because it describes them, so this is a third body independent of the organiser and the operator. It does not settle the 2027 numeral, which nobody has published — it settles the premise the arithmetic for 2027 runs on.

Where the events are

The 2026 calendar covers the whole archipelago: 114 of its 158 entries are on Mallorca and 24 are on Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. The remaining 20 give a venue — a farm, a football ground, a picnic site — that no public gazetteer carries, so they are counted on their own and left out of every island figure here. Read the Mallorca numbers as the events that could be placed on Mallorca, which is the number that can be checked one row at a time.

How we got this Each place name is resolved to a point and the point is tested against the coastline it falls inside — the island decides, not whether the name sounds Mallorcan. Only what the calendar itself marks out is read as a name: the municipality it prints in brackets, the name itself, the name after a comma. A name that resolves nowhere, or to two islands at once, is left unplaced rather than assigned to the likelier one.Computed from the place column of every row in the federation calendar, against the island coastlines and the named places OpenStreetMap publishes for the archipelago.Computed 18 September 2026.

5 of the 18 base towns with a page here host at least one federated event, which is the join worth making if you are choosing where to stay for a race weekend — and Palma hosts more of them than the rest of the island put together.

Matched on the town name the organising club typed into the calendar, so a club that entered “Mallorca” rather than a town is not counted anywhere. checked 18 September 2026.

For the 312 weekend the town is Platja de Muro and the beds go early — accommodation around the start. For the Ironman it is Alcúdia. A pre-booked airport transfer with a bike box declared is the one thing worth arranging before you fly, and if you are riding an organised event, read your own policy’s exclusions for competitive sport before assuming you are covered — organised events are a common one, and one provider that covers amateur cycling events exists if yours does not. We do not rank or compare insurers.

Gravel is on this island and not on this calendar

The federation's own filter offers 23 disciplines and its 2026 season uses 12 of them. Gravel is among the 11 it offers and never ran, so no gravel event on this island appears on any authority’s list — which is where to stop looking for one, and where to start looking at organisers instead.

How we got this Both lists are read off the same page in the same request: the filter’s options give the vocabulary, the table’s rows give the usage, and the difference is taken between them. An absence measured against a published list is checkable; one measured against an assumption is not.Computed from the discipline list in the federation calendar’s own modality filter, against the modalities its season rows actually carry.Computed 18 September 2026.

The consequence is practical: a gravel event here is found on an organiser’s own page or not at all, and those pages go stale. The Mallorca Gravel Series’ front page still advertises November 28th 2025 while a third-party calendar gives The fall event is scheduled for November 29. — which is exactly the divergence this register refuses to resolve on the reader’s behalf. Both are printed, both are dated. Where the gravel actually is →
