Which week to book
Operators sell the same camp in February and in May, but on the island those are very different weeks. Here are the differences, measured over the exact days each week covers.
36 dated camp weeks are on sale on this island, from eighteen operators based in six towns. There are four hours and fifteen minutes of daylight between the shortest and the longest: 29 January – 14 February out of Port d'Alcúdia averages 10h23 a day, and 23–28 May out of Alcúdia averages 14h38. That is how much riding light each week gives you, and the dates alone do not tell you it.
Every published week
36 dated camp weeks, earliest first. Plus two open seasons rather than a fixed week. One more window names a month and not a week, so there are no days to measure.

How we got this Every window’s daylight is the mean over its own dates, never over its month. Sunrise and sunset are the NOAA solar position for a sea horizon at the island reference point, in Balearic local time, so a clock change sits inside the figures rather than beside them. A race or a clock change is placed in a window as arrival day, departure day or mid-stay, because those are three different things when you are choosing.Computed from 38 published camp windows, each read from the operator’s own page, against 365 computed sunrises and sunsets and the island’s dated road closures.Computed 25 September 2026.
SpeedVille sells the whole window — 35 nights — rather than a fixed week, so its figures are the average across all of it.
One operator has named a month and not a week (Sportive Breaks). Ask them for dates before you compare: two camps in the same month can be very different depending on which half of it they run in.
How to read these weeks
Each row is one window an operator has published, and every figure in it is measured over that window’s own days rather than over its month. That matters most either side of a clock change, where a monthly average would hide the jump. Sunrise and sunset are computed for a sea horizon across all 365 days of the year and given in Balearic local time, so the clock change is already in them. Under the Serra de Tramuntana the sun sets earlier than any of these times: a valley below a 1,400 m wall loses it long before the island does. Computed 25 September 2026.
The shortest days and the earliest sunset are in different weeks
The shortest days belong to 29 January – 14 February with SunVelo — 10h23 a day. The earliest sunset belongs to a different week entirely: 31 October – 5 November with Trek Travel, where the sun is gone by 17:44 even though the day itself is 10h28 long. The clock changes inside it, and the light it loses is all afternoon light. If you want to ride until dinner, compare the sunset column rather than the daylight one.
The clock changes fall inside bookable weeks
Two Sundays in the year move the evening by an hour in one step (the clocks go forward on 28 March 2027 and back on 31 October 2027), and both of them fall inside weeks that are on sale. That gives the clearest comparison here: the same operator, town, hotel and price, with only the date changing.
- Trek Travel runs 21–26 March and then 28 March – 2 April. The first ends with the sun down at 19:07; the second ends at 20:14 — an hour and seven minutes more evening, same camp, a week later.
- Trek Travel runs 24–29 October and then 31 October – 5 November. The first ends with the sun down at 18:52; the second ends at 17:44 — an hour and eight minutes less evening, same camp, a week on.
The change itself falls inside 808project’s 20 March – 3 April (mid-stay) and Trek Travel’s 28 March – 2 April (on the day you arrive). Those riders get the short evenings and the long ones in a single stay. If you want long evenings, take the week after the change rather than the week before.
The weeks with a closed road in them
Mallorca 312 OK Mobility runs out of Platja de Muro on 24 April 2027: 8,500 on the start list, on a course of up to 312 km. The roads on the course are shut to traffic for the day. These are the published weeks it falls inside.
- Stuart Hall Cycling, 28 February – 16 May — 77 nights in Port de Pollença. The race is mid-stay.
- Thomson Bike Tours, 17–24 April — 7 nights in Alcúdia. The race is on the day you leave.
- Cykelresor.com, 17 April – 2 May — 15 nights in Port de Pollença. The race is mid-stay.
- Maxpulse, 19–26 April — 7 nights in Port d'Alcúdia. The race is mid-stay.
Zafiro IRONMAN 70.3 Alcúdia-Mallorca runs out of Alcúdia on 8 May 2027: a full field, on a course of up to 90 km. The bike leg takes the main roads and they are shut while it is on. These are the published weeks it falls inside.
- Stuart Hall Cycling, 28 February – 16 May — 77 nights in Port de Pollença. The race is mid-stay.
- Le Raidard, 1–8 May — 7 nights in Port de Pollença. The race is on the day you leave.
The same dates from different operators
Two sets of dates are sold by more than one operator from more than one town, which is the one comparison where the week itself is the same. The biggest is 13–20 March: three camps, three towns, one set of days. What separates them is the ride from the door to the first climb.
- 6–13 March — the same first climb for all of them, coll de la Creueta, and 0.2 km to it from Port de Pollença with Clips Mallorca Cycling and 10.1 km to it from Port d'Alcúdia with Huerzeler Bicycle Holidays.
- 13–20 March — the same first climb for all of them, coll de la Creueta, and 0.2 km to it from Port de Pollença with Clips Mallorca Cycling, 10.1 km to it from Port d'Alcúdia with Ride Switzerland and 19.1 km to it from Ca'n Picafort with 808project.
The weeks with a car-free Formentor
The road out to the lighthouse shuts to cars for a stretch of the summer — 15 May to 18 October 2026, 10:00–22:00 on the Dirección General de Tráfico (DGT)’s window — and bicycles are exempt. Four published weeks fall inside it: Trek Travel’s 16–21 May, 23–28 May, 10–15 October and 17–22 October (two of its six days). Those riders get the most photographed road on the island without cars on it. Check the current year’s dates on the traffic authority’s own page before you count on it: the restriction is re-issued each year and the hours can change.
Before you book the date
- Your week may cross into the next month
- Eleven of these windows run across a month boundary, so the month page you would otherwise read describes part of the stay. Take the figures from the row, not from the month the brochure names.
- Daylight tells you nothing about rain
- These are the hours the sun is up, computed for the whole island. Whether it rains is another matter, and a March week with fourteen hours of daylight can still bring three days of rain. The month pages cover the weather.
- In the mountains the sun sets earlier
- Every sunset here is the island’s, to a sea horizon. In the Sóller bowl or on the Coll dels Reis side of Sa Calobra the sun is behind a 1,400 m wall long before that. Plan the last climb of the day off the time in the table minus the time it takes to get out of the valley, not off the time itself.
- Ask for the dates
- One camp names a month and no week. Without dates they cannot be placed on the calendar, so ask before you compare prices: the first and second half of a month can be very different weeks.
- Book your hotel early if a race is on
- Race bookings move faster than camp bookings: entries for the 2027 race weekend open in October, and the beds near the start go with them. If your week includes a race day, book the hotel months before you would otherwise book the camp.
