What a Mallorca camp week actually covers

Every operator publishes a list. No two publish the same list. Here they are on one axis — and the gaps are the bill you pay after the invoice.

All 21 camps on the island cover the same one thing this season — nights in the hotel — so it decides nothing. The row that actually separates them is airport transfer: thirteen camps cover it and seven leave it to you. Read down your shortlist's column before you read the price — two weeks in the same town at the same headline figure can differ by a hire bike, a fortnight of lunches and a levy charged per night at the desk.

How to read these columns

Every cell below is a line lifted from the operator's own page and proved word for word against that page, so a column says what the operator says and nothing more. Across 21 camps and fifteen rows there are 315 possible answers and the field gives 174 of them. Sold separately means the operator will supply it and bill it; you arrange it means they have named it as yours to sort out.

The rows that decide between two camps

A row everyone covers and a row nobody covers are equally useless to you: both are facts about the market, neither is a choice. These are the rows where the field genuinely splits — airport transfer, a bike, flights and lunch — measured as the smaller side of each divide, out of 21 camps.

  • Airport transfer: thirteen of 21 cover it, four will sell it to you, two name it as yours and one says it depends what you book. One page does not mention it.
  • A bike: six of 21 cover it, eleven will sell it to you and two name it as yours. Two pages do not mention it.
  • Flights: three of 21 cover it, nine name it as yours and one says it depends what you book. Eight pages do not mention it.
  • Lunch: three of 21 cover it, seven name it as yours. Eleven pages do not mention it.

What every camp covers — and why the brochures lead with it

All 21 camps have nights in the hotel in the price. That is worth knowing precisely because it is what every page leads with: a camp selling you nights in the hotel is selling you the part the camp next door also sells. The field also spends the fewest words there — Sa Calobra Cycling Club's entire statement of it is one line. The decisions are the rows underneath.

7-nights’ accommodation

What no camp covers

Travel insurance is in nobody's price, at any of the 21 camps, and six operators say so on the page. Budget for it as part of the week rather than as an extra, and buy cover before you pay a deposit rather than after — the risk you are insuring starts at the cancellation deadline, not at the airport.

The lines that sit in an inclusions list and do not say “included”

Six lines in this field, across five operators, are printed under a heading that promises inclusion and do not quite deliver it. A comparison built by copying headings reads all six as covered. Read the line, not the heading.

Stuart Hall Cycling lists airport transfer under “Standard packages include”: Return transfers from the airport with your bike (prices displayed separately per person when booking)
Listed in the standard package, and the same line says the price is shown separately per person at booking — so a rider pays for it as its own item.
Sportive Breaks lists a bike under “What's Included?”: BMC with Shimano 105 available for 4 days (or longer)
Printed in the inclusions list, and the line says the bike is available rather than provided; the package list further down the same page names no bike at all.
Maxpulse lists the stay tax under “Tillegg pr. person:”: Turisttax € 4 pr. dag. Betales direkte til hotellet ved innsjekking.
Printed under the surcharges heading, and the line itself says it is paid directly to the hotel rather than to the operator.
Maxpulse lists lunch under “Tillegg pr. person:”: Lunsjer
Under the surcharges heading as a cost the rider carries; the operator provides no midday meal, so this is a gap rather than a service on sale.
Struggle Events lists a bike under “WHAT'S INCLUDED”: Discounted Bike Hire: | 10% off bikes
Printed in the inclusions list as a 10% discount rather than as part of the package — a price reduced is a price — and the operator’s own list of what a rider must bring names bike hire as the alternative to bringing a bike.
SpeedVille lists flights under “Zum genannten Preis für das Bikecamp kommt noch hinzu:”: Für den Flug (selbst buchen)
Item 1 of what the operator says is added to the price, and the sentence explaining it tells the rider to book the flight themselves — so it is outside the price and not something SpeedVille sells. Recording it as `extra` would claim the operator offers flights.

How we got this Each cell is a line quoted from the operator’s own camp page, proved word for word against that page and resolved against the list it appears under.Computed from 21 camps × 15 rows, 2027 season.Computed 17 October 2026.

The most forthcoming page in the field answers thirteen of the fifteen rows; the least answers five; the middle of the field answers eight. So a short column is mostly a short page, and the fix is a short email: the rows a page skips are exactly the ones worth asking about, and the answers arrive in writing.

Velocamp Mallorca publishes an inclusions list too, and is not counted above: its base is in a town whose roads are not measured here, so it sits outside every figure this section publishes. Worth reading at the source.

The lists are in five languages

The 21 camps publish what they cover in five languages — English (12), German (5), Norwegian (2), French (1) and Swedish (1). That is the practical reason the rows above are named rather than quoted: a Norwegian operator's «Transfer flyplass-hotellet t/r» and a French one's «Transferts aéroport-hôtel» are one row or they are two camps nobody can compare. Every cell was read off one such sentence, and each operator's own page is one click from its name in the table above.

Four questions worth an email

Of the 315 answers the fifteen rows could hold, 141 are simply not on the pages. That is normal — a camp page is a sales page, not a contract — and it is why these four go in the first email. The answers come back in writing, which is what you want them in.

  • Is lunch on a riding day mine or yours? Most of the field says it is mine.
  • Is the stay tax in the figure you have quoted me, or paid at the desk per night?
  • If I bring my own bike, is there a mechanic to build it on arrival — and is that in the price?
  • What happens to the week if the group does not fill? Several operators publish a minimum and a date.

What you will be booking yourself

Read the field's own lists back as a shopping list and it comes to this: thirteen of 21 camps leave you to find a bike, seven leave you to get from Palma to the door, and not one of the 21 insures the week — six say so outright. None of that is a criticism of the camps — it is the shape of the product — but it is the part of the cost that is invisible until you are booking it at three in the morning.

A bike
A hire bike, if your camp does not supply one. Book it the same week you book the camp: the good frames in the popular sizes go first, and Easter week goes first of all.
Airport transfer
The run from Palma. Sixty kilometres to Pollença and an hour each way, so it is a real cost even when the camp offers a shuttle at a price.
Travel insurance
Cover for the week, which no camp in the field includes. Descending a mountain pass is the thing to check the small print for, and cancellation cover matters from the day you pay the deposit.
Pollença · Platja de Muro · Alcúdia · Port de Pollença · Port d'Alcúdia · Ca'n Picafort
The nights either side. Flights rarely land when a camp starts, and an extra night at the front is cheaper than a missed first ride.
