Ermites del Pla
138.7 km and 1,725 m of ascent, which is a day rather than an expedition. It goes up collada de Gràcia from Algaida, Puig de Randa from Randa and Santuari de Cura from Randa. It starts in Platja de Palma, it is signposted on the road, and the Consell publishes it as 135.5 km of prose with no track, no profile and no GPX. Here it is as all three.

The line
The reconstructed track over the island, drawn from our own derived geometry — no map tiles and no third-party request. 138.7 km, starting and finishing in Platja de Palma.
Which part of the island
61.1% of this route’s 138.7 km runs in Pla de Mallorca. It touches three of Mallorca’s six comarques and crosses a boundary between them 8 times.
Distance ridden in each comarca
| Comarca | Distance | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Pla de Mallorca | 84.7 km | 61.1% |
| Palma | 41.4 km | 29.8% |
| Migjorn | 12.6 km | 9.1% |
How we got this Every consecutive pair of track points is one segment, and its metres go to the comarca its midpoint stands in — so the answer is a length, not a label. The geometry walked is the GPX this site publishes for the route, which reproduces the route’s own measured distance to within eight metres; the simplified track drawn on the page is not used, because it cuts corners and loses up to 16% of the length. Where a segment straddles a boundary its metres go to one side whole, and the summed length of those segments is published per route as the bound on the error.Computed from the published GPX track and OpenStreetMap’s comarca boundaries (admin_level=7).Computed 6 August 2026.
A segment that straddles a boundary is counted whole on one side; across this route’s 8 crossings that is at most 166 m.
The profile
Elevation sampled every 20 m from Spain’s 5 m national terrain model and smoothed over 100 m. Highest point 544 m at km 32.1; lowest 1 m.
What this route is for
This one is the middle of the set: 138.7 km and 1,725 m, at 12 m of ascent per kilometre. It tops none of the measures this site ranks routes on, which is a fair description of a route you ride for the places rather than for the numbers.
- 138.7 km is a full day out, not an afternoon.
- The steepest kilometre averages 8.1%, and it starts at km 76.6.
- Five kilometres from km 26.7 average 5.8%.
- It tops out at 544 m, at km 32.1 — high enough to be materially colder than the coast.
Ranked against the 8 official routes whose reconstruction passes both checks: the 4th most for ascent, the 4th steepest per kilometre, the 3rd longest.
The measured climbs on it
Matched by geometry against the 122 climb-sides this site has measured — the track has to pass within 120 m of both a climb’s foot and its summit, and ride roughly its length between them. Nothing is matched by name.
Every measured climb-side this route crosses, in the order it meets them.
| Climb | Direction | Starts at | Length | Gain | Average | Steepest km |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| collada de Gràcia from Algaida | Up | km 22.9 | 6.7 km | 192 m | 2.9% | 7.0% |
| Puig de Randa from Randa | Up | km 27.4 | 5.0 km | 228 m | 4.5% | 7.0% |
| Santuari de Cura from Randa | Up | km 27.4 | 4.8 km | 251 m | 5.2% | 7.0% |
How we got this A climb is collected when the track passes within 120 m of both its foot and its summit and the distance ridden between those two points is within 30% of that climb’s own measured length. Foot before summit means the route climbs it; the other order means it descends it, which is a different day and is labelled as one. Nothing is matched by name.Computed from the 122 climb-sides this site has measured.Computed 6 August 2026.
Where the height sits
The route in ten-kilometre blocks. 1,725 m of ascent over 138.7 km says nothing about whether it arrives all at once, and on this route it does not.

| 130.0–138.7 km | 42 m | 49 m | 17 m |
How we got this Ascent is the sum of the rises in a series smoothed over 100 m. Unsmoothed, the model's own vertical noise adds hundreds of metres of climbing that the road does not have — which is most of why published ascent figures for the same ride disagree. Tunnels and bridges are interpolated between their portals, because a terrain model reads the mountain above a tunnel.Computed from IGN Elevacion4258_5 (OGC WCS).Computed 6 August 2026.
The roads it uses
Read off the reconstruction rather than off the itinerary: this is where the track actually ran, longest first. 51.6% of its length is on roads the Consell names for this route.

How we got this Between consecutive waypoints the route takes the shortest path in which the roads and camins the Consell names cost their true length, another numbered road costs twice its length, and an unnamed lane costs eight times. Motorways are removed outright, along with anything tagged private, no-access or no-bicycles. A road closed to cars but open to bikes is deliberately kept.Computed from the OpenStreetMap road graph, filtered to what a bicycle may ride.Computed 6 August 2026.
Where it starts
The Consell puts the start at Platja de Palma, on the camí de les Meravelles.
It passes through none of the base towns this site measures, which is worth knowing before you plan a week around it.
Towns with beds within reach
The route touches none of these towns, so each one is a road transfer to the nearest place the route can be joined — the distance and the town it is joined at are both below.
Towns with beds within 30 km of this route by road, nearest first.
| Town | By road | Joined at |
|---|---|---|
| Ca'n Picafort | 20.4 km | Sineu |
| Platja de Muro | 24.7 km | Sineu |
| Port d'Alcúdia | 29.2 km | Sineu |
How we got this A route is entered only through a town that is both one of its own waypoints and one of the 32 towns this site has measured a road network from, so every distance printed beside a route is a road metre-count that already existed — never a straight line to the drawn track, which is a simplified shape and would be a second unit standing among the first. The door is printed next to the figure. A waypoint is matched to a town by OpenStreetMap node id and never by name, so “runs through” carries no distance and has no unit to get wrong; where one settlement is mapped under two nodes — s’Arenal is, because it straddles the Palma/Llucmajor boundary and each half is its own statistical entity — the second id is admitted only after both records have been read and the reasoning written down. The cost is that a route whose waypoints are all villages outside the measured set has no door at all, and its page says so rather than reporting a distance it cannot measure.Computed from the routes’ own place waypoints, and the table of road distances this site measures between the island’s towns.Computed 6 August 2026.

How this reconstruction was checked
The Consell publishes 135.5 km for this route. Our reconstruction measures 138.7 km — +2.4%.
It is a circuit, and this reconstruction returns to its start at the same point.
51.6% of the distance ran on roads the Consell names for this route.
A reconstruction is published as a track only when it agrees with the published distance inside a stated tolerance. The rule, and the same check for all sixteen routes, is on the routes atlas.
How to read these numbers
- Ascent is smoothed over 100 m. Unsmoothed, a 5 m terrain model adds hundreds of metres of climbing the road does not have, which is most of why two published figures for the same ride disagree.
- The distance is our reconstruction's, not the Consell's. Theirs is 135.5 km and it is the check this one is scored against, never a value copied into the page.
- The signs are the authority for what is standing on the road today. Signage changes faster than any publication, and the Consell's own page for this route is linked below.
