Mallorca 312: the 2027 edition, measured
The Mallorca 312 is the one day of the year when the Serra de Tramuntana is closed to cars for cyclists. The XVII edition runs on Saturday 24 April 2027 for 8,500 riders, and the hard part is not the route — it is getting one of those 8,500 places. The last on-sale emptied in seconds.
This page is the measured version. The three routes below were measured by us from the organiser’s own GPX files, the climbs are the organiser’s own named climbs with our numbers on them, and every figure carries the source it came from and the date we last checked it.

What the on-sale has actually done
Every year the event is described as selling out “instantly”, and every year that word means something different. Here is what each on-sale actually did, with the outlet that reported it named on the row — because the outlets do not agree with each other, and a blended average would be a number nobody published.
Mallorca 312 on-sale record, 2023–2026 editions
| Edition | Entries opened | Places | Sold out in | Demand behind it | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| XIII (2023) | 8 October 2022 | 8,000 | 10 hours — a record at the time | — | Gran Fondo Guide |
| XIV (2024) | 5 October 2023 | 8,000 | 6 minutes | — | esciclismo.com |
| XV (2025) | 8 October 2024, 11:00 | 8,500 | under 6 minutes | over 18,000 users queued on the website | Ultima Hora |
| XVI (2026) | 7 October 2025, 11:00 | 8,500 | seconds ("en apenas unos segundos") | far more people connected than places available | Ultima Hora |
How we got this Dates read off the four sources and checked against the calendar: 8 Oct 2022, 5 Oct 2023, 8 Oct 2024 (Tuesday), 7 Oct 2025 (Tuesday). No organiser statement of a fixed rule exists — this is a pattern, not a schedule.Computed from the four dated on-sale reports in the table above.Computed 5 August 2026.
Two things follow from that table. The first is that demand has outgrown the event by an order of magnitude: 8,500 places against a reported queue of more than 18,000 in October 2024, and the sell-out time has collapsed from ten hours at the 2022 on-sale to seconds at the 2025 one. The second is that the number of places has been flat at 8,500 since the 2025 edition, so nothing about 2027 is likely to be easier.
The three routes, measured
The organiser publishes its elevation profiles as images and states no totals, so the numbers that circulate for this event come from third parties and disagree by up to 700 m. We measured all three routes ourselves from the official GPX tracks; the method is stated below the table so you can reject it if you disagree with it.
All three routes, measured from the organiser's own GPX tracks
| Route | Distance | Climbing (ours) | Climbing (published elsewhere) | High point | Where the climbing is |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mallorca 312 | 313.2 km | 4,325 m | 5,050 m | 866 m | 72% of it before km 160 |
| Mallorca 226 | 229.8 km | 3,423 m | 3,973 m | 866 m | 90% of it before km 160 |
| Mallorca 167 | 169.5 km | 2,164 m | 2,475 m | 865 m | 85% of it before km 100 |
How we got this Smoothing matters more than the arithmetic: unsmoothed, the same 312 track yields 4,692 m, because GPS elevation noise is counted as climbing. Any figure quoted without a smoothing window is not comparable to any other figure. The tracks are the 2025 editions — the organiser had not published 2027 files at the time of writing — and they carry an OpenStreetMap copyright notice (ODbL).Computed from the organiser's three official GPX tracks, downloaded from mallorca312.com on 2026-08-05.Computed 5 August 2026.
Note what the last column says. On the 226 route, 90% of the climbing is behind you by kilometre 160 — the remaining 70 km carry 328 m. On the full 312, 3,093 of the 4,325 metres are done by the same point, and the last 153 kilometres are a flat interior loop through Lloseta, Ariany and Artà. This is not a ride that gets progressively harder. It front-loads everything, then asks whether you can still turn a big gear alone into a headwind at kilometre 250.
The climbs, in the order you meet them
These are the organiser’s own climb boundaries — the official GPX marks the foot of each climb and its summit as named waypoints — with our measurements between them. The steepest-kilometre column is the one to read: a 4.1% average across Puig Major hides a kilometre at 7.5%.
Every named climb on the 312 route, in order
| # | Climb | From km | Length | Base → summit | Average | Steepest km | Also on |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Coll de Femenia | 25.3 | 7.7 km | 116 → 532 m | 5.4% | 6.9% | 226, 167 |
| 2 | Puig Major (MA-10 from Gorg Blau) | 47.2 | 8.3 km | 529 → 866 m | 4.1% | 7.5% | 226, 167 |
| 3 | Coll d'en Bleda | 70.9 | 4.1 km | 22 → 220 m | 4.8% | 6% | 226, 167 |
| 4 | Coll de sa Pedrissa | 81.6 | 6.3 km | 136 → 419 m | 4.5% | 7.2% | 226, 167 |
| 5 | Coll d'en Claret | 91.7 | 2.2 km | 389 → 495 m | 4.8% | 5.3% | 226, 167 |
| 6 | Coll des Pi | 112.2 | 2.7 km | 163 → 304 m | 5.3% | 6.2% | 226 |
| 7 | Coll de sa Gramola | 119.7 | 3.9 km | 183 → 348 m | 4.3% | 6% | 226 |
| 8 | Coll de n'Esteva | 129.2 | 4.7 km | 96 → 223 m | 2.7% | 5.4% | 226 |
| 9 | Coll de Galilea | 139.3 | 4.6 km | 137 → 408 m | 6% | 6.9% | 226 |
| 10 | Coll des Grau de Superna | 149 | 3.3 km | 247 → 461 m | 6.6% | 7.1% | 226 |
How we got this Every waypoint sat within 12 m of the track. Gradients are computed on the smoothed profile; the steepest-kilometre column is the worst continuous 1 km inside the climb, which is the number that matters on the road and the one nobody publishes.Computed from the 58-waypoint set inside the organiser's official 312 GPX file.Computed 5 August 2026.
The shape of the day is set by the first 60 kilometres. You are on the flat until Coll de Femenia at km 25, and from there the route climbs 416 m in 7.7 km, drops towards Lluc, then grinds up the MA-10 past the Gorg Blau reservoir to the Puig Major tunnel at 866 m — the high point of the whole event, reached before kilometre 56. Everything after that is a series of shorter coastal walls: ten named climbs in total on the 312, of which seven are under 5 km.
The two that punish late are Galilea (km 139, 4.6 km at 6.0%) and Coll des Grau de Superna (km 149, 3.3 km at 6.6%) — the steepest sustained pair of the day, and they arrive after 140 kilometres of Tramuntana, immediately before the route lets you go on the flat.
If you are riding the 226 or the 167
The 226 shares the entire mountain section with the 312 and splits from it at Es Capdellà, around km 138. You ride identical roads and identical climbs for five hours; what you skip is the flat interior loop.
The 167 turns for home much earlier, at the Sa Granja junction near km 99, and takes in five of the ten named climbs. It is still 169.5 km with 2,164 m of climbing and the full Puig Major ascent — the “short” option only in this company.
The clock
Start and finish cut-offs
| Distance | Must finish by |
|---|---|
| 167 km and 226 km | 17:00 |
| 312 km | 20:40 |
Source mallorca312.com (regulations) · checked 5 August 2026Intermediate cut-offs are published only in the course guide, which the organiser releases as an image each year.
All three distances start together at Platja de Muro from 06:30, with the last rider expected through the start arch by 07:00. Working from a 06:30 start, the 312’s 20:40 finish cut-off gives you 14 hours and 10 minutes for 313 km — an average of 22.1 km/h including every stop. The 167 and 226 cut-offs are the tighter ones in practice: 17:00 gives a 226 rider 10.5 hours for 230 km, or 21.9 km/h rolling average with the same mountains in it.
Intermediate cut-offs decide the day long before the finish does, and the organiser publishes the times only inside an annual course-guide image. What we can give you is where they are — read off the “temps de tall” waypoints inside the official track:
Where the cut-off controls sit on the road
| Kilometre | Where | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| km 50.7 | on the Puig Major climb, above Gorg Blau | 312 |
| km 137.8 | Es Capdellà, where the 312 and 226 routes divide | 312 / 226 |
| km 166.9 | after Sa Granja, at the end of the mountains | 312 / 226 |
| km 193.9 | Lloseta, entering the flat interior loop | 312 |
How we got this Each cut-off waypoint was snapped to the nearest track point and its distance-along-route read off. The organiser publishes the times but not the kilometres; these are the kilometres.Computed from the "Temps de tall" (cut-off) waypoints inside the official 312 GPX file.Computed 5 August 2026.
The first control sits on the Puig Major climb, at km 50.7 — before the high point, roughly four hours in. If your day is going badly, that is where you find out.
The 312 track carries eight "10 km to the next feed station" warnings, the last of them 10 km from the finish — the organiser signposts every feed a full 10 km out. What it costs to enter

| Official jersey (compulsory) | €50 |
| Platform administration fee | €15 |

Source mallorca312.com (specific conditions, XVI edition) · checked 5 August 2026These are the XVI (2026) terms. The organiser had not published 2027 conditions when this page was written.
Two details cost foreign riders money they did not expect. The jersey is not optional — €50 of the €159.99 is a compulsory jersey purchase, not a merchandise upsell you can decline. And the €15 insurance is not waived by your national federation licence: the organiser’s conditions state that being federated outside Spain does not exempt you, and neither does a licence from another Spanish federation such as triathlon. Only a current RFEC licence does.
You may withdraw within 14 calendar days of registering and get the registration fee back to the original card. The administration fee and the jersey are not refunded. The rules that actually catch people
- A helmet must be worn; the bike must be a conventional road bike with brakes on both wheels.
- Electrically-assisted bikes, time-trial bikes and triathlon bikes are not allowed. Handbikes and adapted bikes are.
- The number must be visible on the handlebars, with the timing chip attached to it.
- You are out if the "End of Race" vehicle passes you, if you are towed, if you cut the course, if you litter, or if you ride against the direction of the race.
- Minimum age 18, or 15 with written parental authorisation.
- Roads are closed to traffic, but the organiser warns explicitly about long technical descents and unlit tunnels.

The unlit-tunnel warning is not boilerplate. The MA-10 between Gorg Blau and Sóller runs through tunnels on the Puig Major section, and the organiser names them explicitly in its own regulations as a hazard riders accept.
Where to stay for it
Everything happens at Platja de Muro: the start, the finish, and the expo where numbers are collected on the Thursday and Friday before, 09:00–21:00. Riders who stay in Platja de Muro or Can Picafort ride to the start; riders who stay in Port de Pollença add roughly 15 km each way, in the dark, before a 312 km day.

For race weekend specifically, the constraint is not price but proximity to the start and a bike you can get to at 05:30. If you are booking a hotel yourself rather than through an operator package, accommodation in Platja de Muro is the search that matters, and a hire car from Palma solves the airport-to-hotel problem with a bike box in a way a taxi does not.
